Sixth and Hope was the birthplace of Biola University. Back then, it was still called the Bible Institute of Los Angeles.

The year was 1926.

Is this the one that’s now located out near Las Virgenes Highway off Malibu Canyon?

The Church of the Open Door, which operated the Bible Institute is now located in Glendora. The high-rise built after this building was torn down in 1985 features a street-level room whose door never closes. Inside the small space a video plays detailing the history of the site.

Lucinda, you’re thinking of Pepperdine. Jason is right…..La Mirada.

No no, there’s something off Mulholland and Las Virgenes in the Calabasas Hills. I thought it was Biola. It’s not Pepperdine…that’s at the beach…

Is this where the “JESUS SAVES’ sign was located before it was moved behind The United Artist Building on Broadway/8th??

    dj ernie: Yep!

Lucinda: You’re thinking of Soka University, whose controversial expansion attempt in the Santa Monica Mountains was rejected and the school eventually moved to Orange County and sold the campus to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
