2002’s unbelievable epic prog-post-punk opus Source Tags and Codes was the husky, burnished soundtrack, both ponderous & soaring, for the next twelve months of my life when it came out. I’m so stoked Trail of Dead is still playing, because we need us some complex material in these days of 140-character expressions.
Wanna go? Tell me the title of an overwrought philosophy book. It can be the one you were assigned in your 101 class in college, or if you’re the kind of boy I always fall for you’re a massive pain with a huge philosophy collection and will be able to pull some obscure Plotinus Ennead out of your ass.

ToD is awesome live!!! I agree Source Tags and Codes is fantastic. World’s Apart isn’t bad either even though it didn’t get the accolades of ST&C.
In addition to ST&C and Worlds Apart, I enjoy the EP The Secret of Elena’s Tomb. ToD is great music for writing to, in my experience. Though I have plans Thursday, I’ll toss my hat in the ring for the hell of it: The Essential Ken Wilber is greatly overwrought. Granted, I haven’t cracked it open in over five years, but I recall it fondly as masturbatory philosophy for people who enjoy fairy tales.
Didn’t even know they were in town. …AYWKUBTTOD is always hard to find on my iPod due to the …ness of their title.
Anyway, the philosophy book – “The Engine of Reason, the Seat of the Soul; A Philosophical Journey Into The Brain” is a ridiculous title. Philosophically speaking, that’s a tough journey to take. But it does sound like it could be the name of their next album. (Yes, I know I still call ‘em albums.)
