A Building Wants to Be My Facebook Friend

Solair added you as a friend on Facebook. We need to confirm that you know Solair in order for you to be friends on Facebook.

Actually, I don’t know Solair. In fact, there are very few buildings in Los Angeles that I consider friends. Do I accept the request, or ignore? This is a decision not to be taken lightly, as I do not want to hurt Solair’s feelings.

What would you do?

    Not to be a total rat, but non-humans or anyone not using a birth name can’t create a regular friend account on Facebook – violates TOS. Which, sadly, results occasionally in non-profits setting up FB accounts being deleted. On the bright side, it reduces spam accounts.

    People can create attach business pages, fan pages, etc., to their accounts, however.

    This is actually in violation of facebook policies regarding user profiles. They should have created a Page which can represent non-people and you would become a ‘fan’ of the page, rather than a ‘friend’ of a user profile.

    This raises the question–what Southern California buildings would you gladly add as a friend on Facebook?

    I would have a pretty long list…here are some off the top of my head:

    The Bradbury Building
    Union Station
    The Gamble House
    Hollyhock House
    The Lovell Health House
    City Hall
    The Fine Arts Building
    Royce Hall and Powell Library at UCLA
    The Theme Building at LAX
