Little Miss Sunshine

This quaint, decades-old Volkswagen Type 2 bus (a/ka/ Microbus) was spied in the Marina.  Based on my extensive research (okay, fifteen minutes’ worth) and a helpful clue in the back window, this model, with its “split-window” front windshield, dates from 1966.  I have a feeling that, back in the day, more than one of these could be seen driving around in neighboring Venice.  Can you say, Cheech and Chong?

Other than old age, perhaps one reason for the demise of this particular model is that steep cliff of a front end.  There’s virtually no “crumple zone” between the driver and front passenger and whatever they might happen to run into.

Hey man, watch out for that tree!  It just jumped out into the road, behind the polka-dotted elephant!
