Argh…I miss the days when my kids were toddlers, inane calls like this were handed to one of them where they’d sit there and go "hi" FOREVER.

Those of you receiving "Yes On 8" calls should check out Gina’s post over on the OC Metblog site of her cold call.

They may have more people working the phones…….but quantity is NOT quality……

If I get a call soliciting me to vote yes for Prop 8, my goal will be to keep that person on the phone as long as I possibly can so it takes away from the time they have available to call other people.

I got a message on my machine "reminding" me to vote yes. I really wish I’d been home so I could have had a little chat with the young lady. For instance, asking her whether "preserving traditional marriage" meant that proposition 8 would outlaw divorce, which ends half of all traditional marriages whereas I don’t know a single person whose straight marriage has ended because someone else married their same-sex partner.

I haven’t gotten a call from no on 8. I wonder if they are understaffed? Someone did stop me at the farmer’s market to ask me for money to help defeat 8 but I didn’t have any to spare.

Dorit…no kidding getting them to answer how allowing this will harm a straight marriage. Between my wife and I we have alienated more than a few of our neighbors by arguing it doesn’t and forcing them into a corner when they could point out how it did. No loss as far as I’m concerned as I don’t have time for petty crap around me.

Chal, all I can say is I hope folks get the word out and the No vote wins. If it doesn’t then I hope we have the funds to over turn the vote just as 187 was overturned.

As I said in my post a few weeks ago, we’ve worked hard to teach our kids people can’t control who they fall in love with and when it happens they deserve to be married.

Thanks, frazgo. I must confess I was one of those complacent people who saw the early polls showing Prop 8 being defeated and had foolishly stopped paying attention, lulling me into a (as it turns out) false sense of security.

It took my boyfriend calling to my attention that the situation had changed. He wrote a heartfelt email to send to friends and family and showed it to me this morning. So really, he’s to thank too.
