Zydeco Festival This Weekend, Accordion Festival Next Weekend!

[2]As if the Shambhala Arts Festival & Topanga Days [3] weren’t enough, we also have the Cajun/Creole Festival [4] (this weekend) and Accordion Festival [5] (a week from tomorrow)! The Cajun/Creole Festival will have several dozen musical acts playing zydeco & Cajun musics, delish food, and stuff for the kids. The Accordion Festival is shaping up to be a helluva lot of fun, with Zydeco, Cajun, Tejano and alternative experimental sonic goodness, an accordion workshop (OMG I’ve always wanted to learn! I even have one! It’s red & white, so fashonable, even thought it’s uselessly sitting on a closet shelf!), and more. Parisian indie ingenue Jessica Fichot [6], LA legend Count Smokula [7], Norteno/Tejano-playing Conjunto los Pochos [8], the sexy & sultry Mrs. Hobbs [9] and wonderful Veronique Chevalier [10] (plus a bunch more local musicians) will perform. Viva la aerophones!
