I just finished up a downpour that dropped 3/4 inch of rain in maybe 10 minutes.

A friend was in El Monte for the storm there and said she could see only a couple of lanes of the 10 seemed to be closed due to plugged storm drains. She got back up to Sierra Madre to hear a lot of sirens going off. She said it sounded to come from below the canyon and is concerned there may be some run-off and debris problems from the fires a few weeks ago. Nothing official yet I can find referencing that sort of flooding.

We had some hellacious north-by-northwesterly winds blow through Silver Lake last night like a freight train. Looks like its turned around for the return trip and bringing a little extra wet and shocky hell with it.

Well,here in Monrovia, we just had a downpour so hard you can't see across the street. We had pea sized hail around 1:30PM. Wind has been gusty enough at times to push the car around.

Angelenos have every reason to be afraid of weather, transplated or not.

Roofs here aren’t made to withstands downpours. People don’t realize that roads get slick with rain. People who do know that roads get slick with rain don’t realize they get even slicker here in SoCal because it doesn’t rain enough to gradually wash away oil. The roads flood easily because they aren’t built for regular rains.

The list goes on. I love thunderstorms – but because fellow Angelenos don’t know how to deal with it I avoid driing through them.
