The Saddest Arcade in the World
Today I went to Pacific Theaters at the Americana to watch Iron Man. Fantastic movie!
Then as I was exiting the theater, I saw a sign reading “ARCADE” hanging above a door.
Wow, I thought, a great comic book movie followed by an honest-to-goodness video game arcade? I felt ten years old all over again.
Then, after going through the door, this is what I saw:
No, that’s not a corner of the arcade. That’s the whole damn thing. One lousy Ms. PacMan/Galaga 20th Anniversary “Class of 1981″ machine, and a “try your luck” game called Movie Stop.
I’m not even going to bother offering a larger version of that JPEG. It’s just too damn painful.

One can only hope that this is due to the place being new, and more games are being shipped in. Then again, it is Pacific Theatres.

@daveshare: Don’t get me wrong. If I could have only one game machine on a desert island, this very well might be the one I’d choose. But all things considered, it’s still a pretty sorry-ass arcade.
Wow…that is sad. I thought the arcade at the movie theatre at The Grove was sad. I used to go to Mommy Matinees there and we all used it as a breastfeeding room. They had a racing game I would play while breastfeeding my kid. The other moms thought it was strange, but I played video games at home while breastfeeding, why change habits?
Funny, you posted that about 10 hours after my friends and I visited the same arcade, took pictures, and complained about how lame it is.
We thought the same thing.
robb & snarkie: This is just getting creepy. What’s the time stamp on your photographs? I took those photos at 1:38 p.m., after getting out of the 11:15 a.m. screening of Iron Man.
