Scientology Taking Over Hollywood, Changing Name to Mount Doom
There were reports by CurbedLA today of something fishy happening at the HollywoodFranklin, the new/old apartment building at Cahuenga & Franklin. They were gonna be for rent – but, now they’re not. None of them.
Speculation by Curbed Commenters has the entire building being leased out to “an organization that will use it for its own housing purposes,” leading many to believe that yet another historic building in our fine city will fall under the Xenu Curtain.
It’s all early speculation that this is the work of Scientology. But, it got me wondering how many buildings they actually occupy in L.A. and around the world. Anyone know?
Gotta go now. My hoodwink and unmarked van are waiting. I am not an SP. I am not an SP. I am not an SP.

I agree you aren’t an SP, you are very definitely a PTS. I am too. Long live the FSM!
Who lives in all those residential buildings that they own and why?
Uhh… I seem to have misplaced my secret decoder ring…
Years and years ago I worked on a project that took place at the Celebrity Center, and a lot of the people on the project who were COS members all lived in apartment buildings that were wholly occupied by Scientologists in the surrounding neighborhood.
I just found a link with most of their "holdings" but it also has Florida, go down the list for Los Angeles:

This is purely apocryphal, but I heard a somebody say that something like 70% of the real estate in Hollywood is owned by CoS in one way or another.
Say what you will about Scientology, but no denying they take pride in their properties and neighborhoods.
^ Agreed. They’ve restored several historic buildings in Downtown Clearwater, Florida, and completely revitalized a neglected urban core.
Maybe CoS should buy the property along Broadway in DTLA…
