Archiving Angeles (AA): Easter at Elysian

lovein.jpg

They came with bells, flutes, flowers and drums. Tangerines, incense, candles and joy. They came for the experience. For the movement. For the sounds of Seventh Son, Firesign Theatre, and the Steve Miller Band.

It was L.A.’s first “Love-In” at Elysian Park. It was Easter Sunday. It was the Summer of Love.

Maybe your parents were there.

The year was 1967.

Wow, I wonder what these people are doing now. Are they still here?

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of what they are wearing is something we would see now on the streets, hair too. Funny how things make circles.

Great find, thanks for sharing Jason.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Funny how an old photo can look like it isn’t dated at all.

I was thinking the same thing, frazgo… I’d love to hear someone who was there reminisce, anonymously or otherwise.

And, yeah, another Summer of Love is upon us. let’s take Elysian Park.

Please don’t feed the hippies any ideas. I can see it already, "Easter of Love 08." Can we please keep them and the spontaneous drum circles confined to Burning Man?
