Yikes! Cahuenga Pass surface streets being closed due to flooding.

LAFD’s Brian Humphrey just posted alerts of a “water main rupture with pavement damage” at 3487 W Cahuenga, adding moments ago:

A full traffic closure of Cahuenga Blvd at location is imminent.

Keep an eye on their alert page for further updates.

FWIW, Your headline is a little misleading. The rupture is not in the Cahuenga pass, it’s in Universal City, right by the intersection of Cahuenga and Universal Studios Blvd.

Correcting myself, I guess that is still considered the North end of the Cahuenga Pass, but it is in Universal City.

FWIW, our agency internally discourages using the term ‘Univeral City’ to describe anything but the unincorporated area comprised largely of the Universal Studios complex (studio, theme park, Citywalk, etc.)

Many people are surprised to learn that the complex is not in the City of Los Angeles. We typically use Studio City, Cahuenga Pass or simply Los Angeles to describe incorporated areas that fall within our jurisdiction.
