Strike Notes: Taco Bell offer STILL better than AMPTP’s
I can hardly believe that this isn’t a joke. Taco Bell is offering WGA writers the chance to come up with witty slogans for the packets of Border Sauce. Yes, really. Previous witty slogans include such gems as “If you throw this, would it be a flying saucer?” Believe it or not, someone has actually compiled past slogans here. (OMG, and this one has pictures! I love the interwebs.)
For the chance to win up to $260 in fast food, I’m sure every striking writer in town will be away from the picket lines today, agonizing over the perfect slogan.
Hey, it’s better than what the Companies have offered so far.

What are they offering to the hundreds of "behind the scenes" workers who are out of a job because of the strikers? Is Taco Bell feeding those families?
Hahaha, I thought I was going to read that they are offering the writers free meals… All those other behind the scenes workers could use help, too; I agree. Compassion is the best advertising for company image, Pepsico!!! (hint, hint…)
I do enjoy how it’s always "because of the writers" and not "because of the jerks who wouldn’t even negotiate in reasonably good faith with the writers, who could have continued working if they had at least been talking."
Exactly–where would ANY of these shows be if it weren’t for the writers? Even the talk shows need writers to prop up the feeble washed-up comedians who host them. Only the reality shows haven’t suffered (although their audiences clearly suffer from SOMETHING).
