Fabooj: Being from Rowland Heights I COMPLETELY agree with what you're saying, having gone to Mt. SAC and Cal Poly I understand even more.

My concern with this proposal is that many of the issues that blew other proposals out of the water don't exist in the City of Industry. Unlike LA and Anaheim, or even Pasadena, Industry is not likely to have the opposition of it's inhabitants, and even if they oppose, there are only 800 of them. This location doesn't identify as LA, OR The OC.. and we all know OC folk don't like to visit LA games.. and vice versa. Industry in on board and actually appears to be interested. And if history has taught us anything, East SGV cities aren't exactly respectful of their neighboring cities. The NFL is looking for things that many cities aren't willing to give them, but Industry seems to be "business" friendly, and smack dab in the middle of the LA Metro. The NFL owners probably have dollar signs in their eyes, something they don't usually get from LA.

Grand and Valley? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Walnut/Diamond Bar territory? And didn't they put a(nother) big box anchored mini-mall over there? And the hillsides over there aren't they still dairy and bee farms? I mean, I saw cows and bee boxes when I was over there a few weeks ago.

And location-wise, pfft. I attended Mt. Sac and Cal Poly Pomona. Any student/faculty member can tell you how much Grand Ave. sucks to drive between 7:30am and 2pm. And they want to add football into the mix?

Cities like industry were built so that corporations did not have to pay taxes to help out the nearby lower income neighborhoods that recieve the bulk of their negative byproducts (it is actually in the COI website in a sugar coated manner) and fill their factories with workers. I believe Vernon and Commerce suck up over $2 billion in taxes from the city of LA annually, becuase you know, a city like La doesnt need the extra tax base. This was all during the big business/good ol boys days when planning was merely the permitting/bribery process. I've read that Vernon once had a large barrio and was full of japanese farmers and gardens, and their removal and the city's rezoning into a seperate incorated city entirely zone for industry was a very ugly and a textbook example of inequity.

Well, since these industrial wastelands are always next to a ghetto (ELA/SCLA, La Puente/Bassett, El Monte/ Azusa/Duarte, etc.), it is nice for gangmembers to have a nightly empty playground and place to dump bodies when all else fails.

Ugh. having lived in Walnut ten years prior to LA proper I believe that that Walnut is going to sue to stop this. That city (and the other surrounding cities) are so sick of Industry just plopping retail on their borders. Valley and Grand and that 60/57 interchange is just hell all the time.

Whatevs. I could care less about the nfl and only Vegas can get me to drive in that direction.

El Chavo....I live for my monthly applewood smoked bacon sandwich.

Did anyone catch that ruff double posted? A little to trigger happy with the enter key? The way he blathered about you'd think he has a stake in the outcome.

You're all a bunch of idiots. City of Industry is a VERY appealing location. The location of the proposed Stadium is near the Industry Metrolink Station by the intersection of Grand Avenue and Valley Boulevard. According to various reports they want to carve the stadium into a hill side and build retail and hotels. This location allows for this kind of development. Also, this location is convenient to LA, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. That's about 13,000,000 people within an hours drive. That comment about a team being from LA and playing in LA is kind of stupid when you consider the Patriots play in Foxborogh (Between Boston and Providence in the boonies) and the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey. It's convenient access to the 57/60/10 is another perk. Biggest perk is 800 residents. A stadium in a place like City of Industry means $$$ and if I know something about Industry it's that it's in the business of $$$. Industry welcomes this sort of development and it's not likely that the voice of Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights, Walnut, West Covina or whatever is likely to intrude in the citys quest for more $$$. The city supports it and there aren't very many people that can contest it. It doesn't identify with LA or the OC, the NFL is looking at big $$$.
