Get Your Steam Punk On Downtown

edison.jpgI haven’t been to The Edison downtown yet but I’ve nothing but amazing reviews. Of the setting anyway, no one has stopped talking about the atmosphere long enough to get to the food or drinks. If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s a bar/restaurant built in what was originally downtown LA’s first privately owned powerplant and much of the mechanics are still in place. I’d link to some of the images on their site but unfortunately it’s an all flash monster that you can’t directly link to any one section, but trust me, it looks amazing. The site says that a dress code is “strictly enforced” but doesn’t say what that dress code is exactly, so I’m assuming that at least you’d need to dress up a bit to get in the front door. I can’t wait to check it out. It’s at 108 W. 2nd Street, #101 in downtown.

liliya is a new, and very good, chinese bistro that opened up in the same building at around the same time. we had dinner there last saturday, and it was hilarious watching the waves of people headed to the edison. malingering’s camera finger would have cramped up.
