Rise and Shine

Last night, before going to bed The Man and I turned on the NASA channel to see the latest on the Space Shuttle landing. They still didn’t know, but gave a pretty comprehensive schedule. So, we set the alarm clock for 5 AM and went to sleep. Come five we turned the TV back on to find them tracking the shuttle over the Pacific. We went outside and sure enough, within a few minutes we saw what looked to be a bright star tracking quickly across the sky. A little after it passed directly overhead, around 5:06 AM were the sonic booms.

It faded out as it went north east and we went back to the TV to see it land safe and sound at Edwards at about 5:12 AM. Welcome home, Discovery. Thanks for visiting our great state.

    Earlier this morning a I was woken by a different type of sonic boom… a series of about then of them in rapid sucession actually… these were not from a spacecraft, but from a gun.
